Beau's First Week

Baby Abrams is finally here! Noah and I are so excited to welcome Holmes Beaufort Abrams into our family. My water broke on Saturday around 2pm and we went straight to the hospital. After working toward a vaginal delivery for 27 hours, the doctor decided it was time for a c-section. Of course, I found this frustrating and terrifying, but when he was delivered safely at 5:52pm on July 19, weighing 7lbs, 15oz. and measuring 20 and a half inches, all my fears and anxieties disappeared. We stayed in the hospital recuperating until Thursday, and since then we have been home adjusting to our new life with baby. We've had some long nights, but it all so worth it!

Here are some pictures from Beau's first week.

First time I held our little boy after Noah brought him to me in recovery. I was a little dazed from the surgery, but I think I saw Noah strut as he walked his son from the nursery to me in recovery.

3-D UltraSound

Check out Baby Beau in 3-D!
(The top picture is a foot, the second is his legs and you-know-what, and the third is one of the better shots of his face).

Some of the pictures of his face were hard to see because the cord was in front of it and he was using the placenta as a pillow so he was all mushed up.

Noah made sure they got a good picture of his boy-parts, and we also found out that he's got a pretty good-sized foot (so that's what's been kicking me so hard)!
It was really neat to get to peek in on him. We saw him move his mouth some, including a great big yawn. He is weighing in at 3 pounds, 8oz. already so he may be a big boy. Sure feels like it!

It's A Boy!!!

So it has taken me a while to share the good news as we have been busy moving into our new home in Raleigh, but Noah and I are so excited to announce that it is a BOY!!! He was measuring a little big for his age, but everything else looks wonderful! We got some great pictures to bring home with us, and Noah even made them print out the picture of his...well, you know... and have an arrow pointing to it. Haha!

Little "Grover/He-man's" Feet

And the evidence we were long-awaiting. I think we are looking up at his bottom and legs, and the arrow is pointing to his penis. Noah may have this shot framed for his desk :-).

One Down, Two to Go!

So tomorrow marks the end of the first trimester, which I am told means less nausea and more energy. Rejoice! One trimester down, two to go.

We had our second ultrasound on Monday and everything looked great! When we first looked at our baby, the NP said it was asleep (and doing a head-stand), but a couple of little pokes to the tummy and we could see the baby kicking its feet, waiving its arms, and we could see the brain, the fingers, and the umbilical cord.

While it is still too early to accurately predict the baby's gender, the NP said that based on the way the tissue was developing, he was about 70% sure it was a boy. I thought Noah was going to run a victory lap around the hospital! Anyway, we'll have a better idea by the end of February or begining of March. Here is our little acrobat:

You can see the head on the right, then the tummy, and the legs are sticking up in the air. The hand closer to us seemed to be in its mouth (suking her thumb if it is my daughter and probably picking his nose if it is Noah's son). The hand further away from us was kind-of in a solute. From this picture you can just see the blurry hand over the nose. Well, it's back to school, but I hope to give updates soon!
